Frances paints in oil and watercolour but is happy to work with you in any media. Bring your own subject and materials or try new techniques and methods to enrich the painting experience.

Specialist Workshops

Topic – Acrylic Painting – Tutor: Alfred Allan
Alfred Allan is a professional artist working primarily in acrylic. His
main inspiration comes from the landscape and its stunning colours
and atmosphere. His workshop will go through the processes
required to bring out the best qualities of the medium of acrylic.
Date: Saturday 22 October 2016
Time: 10.30am – 4.00pm (Tea/coffee provided, bring your own lunch)
Cost: Members £20.00 – Non-members £30
Things to bring – mixture of brushes, one of these being ‘large’;
canvas or board (approx. 12’’ x 16’’); acrylic paints

Topic-Workshop in oils and acrylics  Tutor Allan Perera
The following items will be required on the day, your own reference material, paints , brushes and canvas, board or paper suitable for your choice of paint.
Cost £15 for members ( £20 for non-members) to be paid on the day.
Dates: Saturday 18th February and Saturday 11th March 2017
Time: 10.30 until 3.00 (Tea/coffee provided, bring your own lunch)

Topic – Portraiture in oils – Tutor: Brendan Collins
Brendan Collins is a portrait artist whose style and techniques are
inspired by the romance of the Pre-Raphaelites. He has given a
demonstration to the Society and this workshop will be a much asked
for follow-on. This will be a two-part workshop, allowing time to go
through the points of starting a portrait and the process of capturing
the details of the individual.
Date: Saturday 25 March 2017 and Saturday 1 April 2017
Time: 10.30am–4.00pm (Tea/coffee provided, bring your own lunch)
Cost: Members £20.00 (per day) – Non-members £30
Things to bring – will be confirmed nearer the workshop date.
